Shri Hemkunt Langar Seva Society serves langar every year to the visitors of Shri Hemkunt Sahib. Langar (Punjabi: ਲੰਗਰ) (kitchen), sometimes also called Mahaparasada, is the term used in Sikhism for the community kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is served to all the visitors, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or ethnicity. The free meal is always vegetarian. People sit on the floor and eat together, and the kitchen is maintained and serviced by Sikh community volunteers. At the langar, all people eat a vegetarian meal as equals. It was started in 2006 with a desire to help hungry people and visitors. Our society had been working for 13 years. Langar is organised generally from 20 may to 20 july every year. The langar place is situated 5 kilometer away from Nandprayag in Chamoli district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
